Once again, we have made it in the news. For Parker resident Jill Marks, writing has always been a source of comfort and creativity. But after the heartbreaking loss of her son Guy in 2017, it became something more — a path toward healing and honoring his memory.

Every month, Jill visits Seven Stones Chatfield Cemetery to spend time beneath the Crimson Spire Oak where her son now rests. It’s here, in the peaceful quiet of nature, that a new story began to take shape. Inspired by her love of travel, her beloved dogs Princess Buttercup and Westley, and treasured family memories, Jill wrote her first children’s book in just five hours: The Travels of Princess Buttercup and Westley: Bye-Bye to New York.

What started as a spontaneous burst of creativity has since grown into a heartfelt book series and her own publishing company, Bubbles Publishing Limited. Each story weaves in real family adventures, lovable pets, and uplifting lessons about facing fears and embracing new experiences. Her second book, Bye-Bye to Great Britain, continues that journey — and a third, set in South Africa, is already on the horizon.

Through “Big Word Bubbles” and cultural references, Jill’s stories aim to educate, inspire, and encourage children to explore the world. Most of all, they allow her son Guy — the kind, gentle soul behind it all — to live on in every page.
