Enjoying the Warmth, Caring for the Land We Share

The past few weeks in Colorado have brought an unexpected gift: warmer, sunnier days that feel more like early spring than winter. We’ve seen more families strolling the paths, more quiet moments spent outdoors, and more opportunities to pause, breathe, and connect with nature, even in a season that usually invites us indoors.

At Seven Stones Chatfield, we cherish these moments. Our botanical gardens and natural landscapes are designed to be places of reflection, remembrance, and peace, and there’s something especially meaningful about being able to experience them under open skies and gentle sunshine.

At the same time, this unseasonably warm and dry weather comes with an important responsibility—one we all share.

A Season That Calls for Extra Awareness

While we’re grateful for the ability to enjoy more time outdoors, the lack of moisture and warmer temperatures also increase the risk of fire. As many in Colorado know, these conditions don’t just affect winter—they often set the tone for spring and summer, as well.

Our land, gardens, and surrounding open spaces are more vulnerable during dry periods. Even small, unintentional actions can have a larger impact when vegetation is dry and winds are unpredictable.

This isn’t something we share to cause concern—but rather to invite awareness and care.

Shared Stewardship of a Sacred Place

Seven Stones Chatfield is more than a destination. It’s a living landscape, a place of memory, and a space held with deep intention. Protecting it means working together as a community—staff, families, and visitors alike—to honor both the beauty of the land and the safety of everyone who walks it.

Being mindful during this season may look like:

  • Following posted guidelines and local fire safety regulations

  • Avoiding open flames or fire-related activities

  • Staying attentive to changing weather conditions

  • Helping us preserve the natural balance of this space

These small, thoughtful choices help ensure that Seven Stones remains a safe, welcoming place now and for seasons to come.

Looking Ahead Together

Colorado’s seasons are ever-changing, and this winter has reminded us just how closely we’re connected to the land. As we move toward spring and summer, we’ll continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed, always with the goal of keeping Seven Stones safe, serene, and accessible.

Thank you for being part of this community. We’re grateful to walk this path with you through every season!
