NOVUS GRANDE

Artist

Harold Linke

Statement

The name Novus Grande comes from Latin words for new and big. This piece takes the form of an arabesque and subtracts the detail, the color, the texture and the volume from a traditional representative sculpture, leaving only the pure dance gesture. The finish on the piece creates an illusion of blue skies, even on a cloudy day. Harold Linke sculpts movement, sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract. For thirty years he has found gestures in life that connect what we know with what we do not know. These gestures–metaphors really–form the basis of his work.
